NEPCO Joins The Fight

On 15 January 2026, the Northern El Paso County Coalition of Community Organizers (NEPCO), representing over 40 HOAs, 10,000 homes, and 20,000 voters, sent a strongly worded letter of opposition to the El Paso County (EPCO) Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) regarding the proposed Buc-ee's development.

In its letter, NEPCO outlined community concerns related to the proposed Buc-ee’s especially in regards to water, one of the state’s most limited resources.  NEPCO urged the BoCC to carefully evaluate projected impacts and to ensure that any decisions are based on transparent, verifiable information, and that developers be held to the long-standing 300 year water sufficiency standard set by the county.

NEPCO joins the growing voices of opposition in the community and its letter outlines how this area will continue to unite against the adverse impacts of the world’s largest gas station.
